About Us

We'd like to tell you a little bit about our club.  My idea for this page from a great site I found while I was rebuilding this site.  If you haven't ever belonged to a an off-road club, take a look at the reasons why you might enjoy it:  Jeep Clubs: Top 4 Reasons To Join A Jeep Club

  • Size of Club - Our membership numbers range between 50 to 60 members, most of whom attend functions and meetings sometime throughout the year.  About 25 core members attend monthly meetings and most trail rides and events.
  • Age of Club - I'm adding this to the list because I believe it also indicates the level of organization and participation.  In 2010, IITP celebrates its 20th anniversary which makes us the oldest off-road club in the region.
  • Age of Members - We have everything from 20-somethings to retirees who are members of JIITPs. We spend equal amounts of time on family day trips and more difficult trails & terrain. We also travel away from home at least once a year and participate in overnight activities such as camping both locally and when we travel.
  • Level of Participation - Participation is required in order to join.  Asmall amount of monthly dues is paid by all members and we hope members will attend meetings and events at least periodically. (As the site I referenced above states: "The plus-side to this is that such clubs tend to have a very tight network of members and camaraderie like this is hard to find.")
  • Trips & Events - IITP has one regularly scheduled trail ride per month.  These are local to the Southern New Jersey area unless other club events conflict.  Other events occur throughout the year including canoing, Wharton State Forest clean up, Rausch Creek's Crawl for the Cure, various weekend trail ride camping trips, and many more.
  • Community Involvement - IITP participates in Wharton State forest clean up events, dontes to Toys for Tots, and is amoung the first of members of the NEW JERSEY TRAIL LOVERS COALITION  in support of local environmental issues.
  • Philosophies - Our philosophy is pretty basic:  "Have fun on the trails".  That being said, we do so safely and as little impact as possible.  In other words, we do subscribe to the basic philosophies associated with the Tread Lightly program.
